I clicked the buy button for Alchemised on Audible, leaned back in my chair, and prepared myself for a new adventure.
What I wasn't prepared for was just how quickly the story would pull me in.
Alchemised is dark.
Brooding.
Haunting.
Yet somehow, despite the chaos woven throughout its pages, the narrator's voice felt almost soothing. It carried me deeper into the story with every chapter, even as the world itself became increasingly unsettling.
Necromancers commanded the dead.
Powerful individuals shaped the fates of others without hesitation.
The world was one built upon darkness, death, destruction, power struggles, and questions of morality.
Yet amid all of that chaos stood Helena.
Strong-willed.
Determined.
And utterly captivating.
Helena's mind seemed lost somewhere between who she had once been and who she had become.
Memories slipped through her grasp.
Fragments of her past lingered just beyond reach.
And yet despite everything that had been taken from her, despite being held captive and surrounded by forces far greater than herself, she remained Helena.
Or at least, whoever Helena was at that moment.
That mystery held me completely.
I wanted answers.
I wanted to know what secrets she carried.
What information she possessed.
What made her so important.
Why everyone seemed willing to risk so much because of her.
The story caught me hook, line, and sinker.
It lingered in the shadows.
Hauntingly brooding.
Dark and mysterious.
The kind of story that settles into your thoughts long after you've stopped listening.
As both a reader and a writer, I found myself appreciating the atmosphere as much as the plot itself.
There was always a sense that something lurked beneath the surface.
Something waiting to be discovered.
Every revelation seemed to raise new questions.
Every answer felt like another piece of a much larger puzzle.
And through it all, Helena remained at the center.
A character I genuinely cared about.
A character I found myself rooting for.
A character whose journey I needed to see through to the end.
The narrator deserves recognition as well.
There was something wonderfully haunting about the performance.
The voice was soothing while simultaneously sending chills down my spine.
It perfectly matched the tone of the story and elevated the experience in a way only a truly gifted narrator can.
By the time I finished, I found myself wishing there was more.
More answers.
More adventure.
More time in this world.
That, to me, is one of the highest compliments I can give any book.
It left me wanting to return.
For readers who enjoy darker fantasy, morally complex worlds, powerful mysteries, and characters who refuse to be easily understood, Alchemised is a journey well worth taking.
For me, it earns a full five stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
And I cannot wait to see what SenLinYu creates next.
Until next time Lovelies,
Always,
