📝What Ambrose Has Taught Me About Bravery By Ambrose Fider

Bravery.

It’s a word we often associate with heroes in fantasy novels—the ones who run toward danger, who wield swords, face monsters, and make impossible choices. When I began writing The Crimson Legacy, I thought I was creating such a hero in Ambrose Fider. What I didn’t expect was that she would, in many ways, begin to create a braver version of me.

Ambrose is fierce, loyal, and unafraid to challenge the world around her. She carries the weight of loss, responsibility, and mystery—but she never lets it stop her from moving forward. In crafting her story, I found myself confronting my own fears and limitations. There were many days I stared at a blank page, doubting whether I had what it took to keep writing, to keep pushing this story forward in a sea of competition and noise. But I’d think of Ambrose—and somehow, I kept going.

The truth is, writing fiction as an indie author isn’t always a magical escape. It’s hard work. It’s personal. It’s vulnerable. There have been moments I’ve wanted to give up—when family responsibilities, my healthcare career, and life’s unexpected challenges left me drained and uninspired. And yet, every time I returned to the page, Ambrose was there, reminding me of what bravery really looks like.

Bravery isn’t always grand. Sometimes, it’s choosing to sit down and write when your heart is heavy. It’s sharing your story with the world even when you feel like a whisper among shouts. It’s holding space for grief while still believing in hope.

Ambrose lost her home. I lost a child. She keeps fighting. So do I.

This series has allowed me to pour my heart into something meaningful—not just for readers, but for myself. Every decision Ambrose makes, every risk she takes, feels like a reflection of my own journey toward healing, toward finding strength after loss, and toward believing that even when you feel small, your story still matters.

So if you ever wonder why The Crimson Legacy means so much to me, know this: it’s more than a fantasy. It’s a mirror. A tribute. A lifeline.

Ambrose may be a character I created, but in many ways…
she helped create me.

Until next time Lovlies

Always, Ambrose Fider
